Here we were asked to put this simple character into various poses just to understand how to pose characters in Maya.
Doing this task also made me think about the human body when in these poses and made me realise that the smallest change can make a big difference to the feeling that the pose gets across to the viewer.

Double Take, Cube Character
For this task we where asked to animate the 2d cube character as before but this time with a double take and more of a performance.
As i was trying to put more performance into the reaction, it made me think allot more about the timing. For example when to add a pause and for how long to make the action more noticeable. or how much to stretch the character to over exaggerate the reaction to whats off screen.
Overall i felt that this was a successful short animation but still feel that there are areas to improve on.

Drawing
Here are a few quick sketches of anatomical drawings and one from a life drawing class, i was pleased with the anatomical drawing although they where out of proportion i still like the style of the drawings, and doing them made me think allot more about the muscle structure of the human body.

Walk
The task here was to animate this simple character walking. I was expecting this to be a hard task but i was pleased to find it a lot easier than i had expected, although i have learnt that there are very simple techniques and alterations that need to be made to make it look like a human walk, rather than a straight robotic walk. I have also learnt how the slight differences can make a whole new walk and change the characteristics of the animated character a great deal.

Jump
Jump!
for this small project we were asked to animate a very simple character jumping and then reacting to something of the page. I liked the fact that we were not allowed to add any facial features or extra detail to the character. this mean i had to think about body language a lot and think how i could show the emotion of a particular reaction so the audience could recognise what the reaction was with out seeing what is off screen.
I really enjoyed this task and felt that my short jump and reaction animation was successful although i do feel that i could have done the timing better to make it run smoother, and i hope people can guess the reaction.

Drawings
we were set the task of observing people and drawing them but to replace the head with an animals head. I was happy with the outcome of the drawings and really enjoyed doing them although i feel like there is a lot i could improve on.

Ball With Objects
The next thing we were set to do was again to animate a bouncing ball but this time with it interacting with surrounding objects in some way or another.
i was happy with the final outcome and am starting to feel a lot more confident with using Maya, and although they are very simple objects in this animation i found the modelling more interesting than the actual animation of the ball.

2D light and heavy ball
we were also given the same task to animate the two balls with different wights in 2d animation. I enjoyed this allot more than the 3d approach as i found it easier to create the two effects. in some ways 2d animation can be allot quicker than 3d and i like the style a little more at the moment although it can get a bit tedious drawing the same thing over and over again.
Light ball
Heavy ball
3D, heavy and light ball
The first 3d animation task we where given was to animate two bouncing balls, one heavy ball and one light. Even though this is a simple task i have learnt allot on how to generally animate in Maya and some basic principles of how to give a ball life by applying the stretch and squash principles. I found Maya tricky to use to start with because i had never used software like it before. But i am really keen to get to grips with the software and to create more interesting animations.
I wasn't particularly happy with the outcome of this fist task because i felt that i could of done it better but it did teach me some of the basics of Maya.
Life Drawing
Even though these aren't the best drawings i have done i felt that they where successful because i was thinking more about my drawing technique rather than the final outcome which is something i never used to do. Hopefully by doing more life drawing sessions and not worrying about the final outcome as much will improve my drawing of the human form.

The Beginning, morphing assignment
To start with i was really not very keen on the theory side of this course and wasn't looking forward to doing allot of reading and writing. But after a couple of history and theory lectures i realised how important it is and i found it really interesting. I now want to read more and find out as much about animation as possible.
Morphing Assignment
Are first 2d animation assignment was to morph a classmates drawing into one of your own. Morphing has always been a big interest to me and i found this surprisingly easier to do than i expected. I was really happy with the outcome even though it was just a short and simple morph and Morphing in a traditional 2d way is something i definitely want to elaborate on more as i just love the unique look it gives when done well.
